I’m personally a vegetarian, so I do occasionally use animal by-products in day to day life, but I try my best to avoid any products that have been tested on animals. You may be surprised, but a lot of art products (similar to makeup) are tested on/ have animal parts in them and it isn’t necessary as there are other alternatives available. So, I’ve put a lot of time and effort into researching and testing out different animal friendly paints and paper etc. And the only way to ensure none of the art products have been tested on animals is to use vegan friendly paints and paper. I also use 100% recycled cards and envelopes and vegan friendly inks for all greetings cards and prints.
I personally try to recycle and reuse as much as possible (waste not, want not!) and this is followed through into my work. Paper doesn’t go into the bin unless it’s been used both sides and envelopes/packaging are always reused in one way or another. This does’t help my hoarding tendencies, but it does ease my conscious and I feel like I'm doing my little bit to help the planet.
I’m always trying to think of other ways I can be more eco friendly, so if you have suggestions please get in touch.
