Homeless Hounds

I went to the Homeless Hounds Companion Dog Show last Sunday, selling my wares. It was such a lovely day, the weather was perfect, which was lucky because it was held outside, and I also got to cuddle dogs all day… what could be better?

Whilst I was there, I had the bright idea to take photographs of all the dogs that came to look at my stall (obviously I asked for permission first) which I would then enter into a Facebook competition, to win one of my Mini Watercolour Pet Portraits. It was all very spur of the moment and I hadn’t quite taken into consideration my lacking photography skills or how excited/distracted some of the ‘models’ would be, but considering how much was going on around them, they all played along and sat nicely for the camera (with the odd exception who just wanted a cuddle instead).

(The four lovely runners up are pictured above)

I also hadn’t quite worked out the logistics, but one of the lovely dog owners suggested opening the competition up to a ‘public’ vote. So, that’s exactly what I did, and I can’t believe how many people joined in. A massive 947 likes for the competition overall and Shadow’s Mum did and amazing job of spreading the word, making her the winner with a total of 187 likes.

Thank you so much to everyone who let me take photos of their dogs and to everyone else who voted. You made my life a lot easier, I don’t think I could have possibly made a decision by myself. If you didn’t win, but you’d still like to order a pet portrait click the button below.

P.S. feel free to take your own photos when there are happy and relaxed at home, you’re more likely to get better results than I did at the show.

Thank you again,

Carla
