Last month I did my first children’s watercolour workshops at the magical Wyresdale Park in Scorton and they went down an absolute treat! So much so, I’m going to be doing a couple more in October and hopefully on a more regular basis, so I thought I’d show you what we got up to.
I decided to do an Enchanted Forest theme for my first workshops, to complement the magical surroundings and who doesn’t love a bit of whimsy in their life!
I personally like to paint in quite a loose and layered style, so I’ve tried to break that down in a fun and creative way that children can easily follow.
I also tried to encourage them to be free and expressive with their paintbrushes, which I personally find more fun, but it’s also perfect for children who aren’t as naturally gifted in the creative department, as there is no right or wrong!
They then used the abstract watercolour techniques to create their final pieces of art.
After the workshops I received some lovely messages from parents, telling me how much their children had enjoyed it and how proud they were of their artwork. And some of the paintings were even framed and made it onto the wall!
Here is one of the lovely messages that I received -
